The vase wich is proposed for sale, is designed by Lars Hellsten, a known and acknowledged master of glass design, and it is made for Skruf Glasbruk, Sweden, in the '60s. The design is bold, innovative and modern forms in geometrization. A drawing vigorous, strong, inspiring force and strength, a design line that characterizes the entire work of this Swedish artist. The technique used is mold-blown - glass that is blown in a mold, to obtain the shape and texture. However, a rarity and a true work of art, taking into account the fact that Lars Hellsten worked Skruf only 6 years (1964-1971). Skruf has not allowed to keep him, the offer from Orrefors can not be refuse by the artist. And Orrefors really do not hire anyone!

Lars Hellsten (b. 1933) studied sculpture at the College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, working then as a designer, for "Skruf Glasbruk" (1964-1971) before coming to Orrefors in 1972 - where he worked over 30 years.
Nature, the elements of nature, inspired, in most cases, works of his art glass. This includes several large pieces, well suited to public spaces. His piece, crystal or glass, are the main characteristic strength (massive) and power, be it glass cast (cast glass), blown into molds / molds (mold-blown) or free (free-blown).
Besides Eden, a service of glass, inspired by elements of nature, he is also the designer behind the collection Corona, Odyssey, Neptunus, Amour and My Heart - from Orrefors, collections that are best-sellers today.

What I can tell you about price? Find items signed Lars Hellsten and you see that is a market-rated artist. There are, however, about the price, a "golden rule" of the art market namely that idetifiate and identifiable piece, respectively artist name, period, style, producer, manufacturer, also is more valuable than an anonymous , unidentified and unidentifiable - like with most, that are for sale on NET.

Un comentariu:

  1. This is not a Lars Hellsten piece, but "On The Rocks" by Walther Glas, Bad Driburg, Germany. The vase you refer to has a similar shape, but not this circle pattern.
